Angie: Here with the serious scientific talk.

Well, Well, Well, Who Is This?

You might formally know her as Angie (Angela) Mabb and she joins the scene of the Now’s the Time Podcast for Episode 2, Season 3 as a continuing guest star. Angie first appeared in Season 2 where she tackled the topic of epigenetics as influenced by the ACE's (Adverse Childhood Experiences). In this NEW season, Angie comes in alongside her favorite high school teacher, Jay Jarabek; someone she credits highly for leading her into the field of science.

Angie is also known for being the final, and in many cases, most integral part of The Trio as she brings balance whenever she is present. Her punny nature settles debates among her childhood friends and she is gifted with the ability to quickly discern when it is time for serious scientific talk. 

Born and raised in the valley of the Mohawk, Angie climbed those stairs to "the school we love" every single day; sometimes twice! Going in for attendance or during track practice, she excelled at Fort Plain High and continued her educational journey receiving Bachelor degrees in Chemistry and Bio-Molecular Science in 2002. She went on to earn her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology in 2007. Angela’s postdoctoral work continued in the Department of Neurobiology as well as Cell Biology and Physiology. 

Angela’s research is well published and her expertise includes studying pathways of chemoresistance and epigenetic regulation of genes associated with neurodevelopmental disorders. 

Currently, Angela’s  research focuses on studying the pathways that regulate communication between neurons and trying to understand how certain neurodegenerative diseases break down this communication. 

Angie's love for learning and teaching continues as she is an Associate Professor in the Neuroscience department at a public university where she teaches Neuroscience courses and runs a research lab.
