About the Event

Storytime and painting is no longer just an educational opportunity for kids!

Come sit with us quietly for a 5-minute read and join us while coach and author Tara, as narrated by Jen, leads us through the streets and down the back alleys of one of her favorite So-Cal ocean side beach towns. A place where the climax of her own personal healing from long standing grief took place.

The read will be nothing extravagant, depressing, or too scary. At times it may be a little sad or eccentric but as her stories always do, they will leave an impression of how to FIND and SHINE the light on THE BEAUTY of a most difficult circumstance.

The short story reading will be based on a vignetted extraction of her personal journal, written while traveling the ever winding and switch back filled path of her very own HERO’S JOURNEY.

After the reading, Coach Tara will use the story to give you a peek at some of the practical and handy tools that led her to a place of peace, self-love, and acceptance. It will touch on some of the common terminology that may be unearthed if one were to choose to take action in their own self-discovery through a One On One private coaching session with her.

Learn what a Hero’s Journey is in literature and in the process of healing through artistic driven self-discovery. Have an opportunity to ask questions regarding what a health and wellness life coach really is and does. Take a chance at opening ONE of the many doors to furthering your education about “how to” be active in your own health and wellness.

Even if you are not looking to start your own journey any time soon, there is still a lot of value to be found in this community building event!

At minimum, hear a story that intrigues your inner artist and puts him or her to action shortly after the story telling by choosing YOUR piece of the greater picture and painting it!

One of the key points of the story involves the colorful, vibrant, sun kissed, eclectic nature of the many community collaged murals that perfectly define the community that lives in the heart of this story’s setting. The impressive murals decorate the outsides of the buildings along this small beach side town and provoke any onlooker with a warm “hometown” feeling. These huge murals, put together by individuals who literally saw at community festivals, the greater picture, then took smaller, individual canvases and left their mark by painting their part of the image onto much smaller parts. Once all put together, each piece retains its unique, individualized element of the independent artist yet makes a complete and extraordinarily comprehensive art form. A community collaged mural!

Although ours will be much smaller in size, the impact will hopefully be just as big!

All you have to do to be part of this is register, show up, paint your part and leave it to dry. The surprise element will be that once the parts are ready, they will be adhered to a larger surface and hung in the suite hallway for anyone to come see. For those who took a part in the painting, it will be like taking a trip down memory lane. For those who did not, perhaps it will inspire …

To finish this event of painting with a purpose, it might feel good to know that the first $300 raised from this event, will be donated to the MomMark Project; a project with a purpose. One that raises funds to support single parents and their children during unexpected and hard times.  In this past year the MomMark Project was able to provide a single mother the funds to purchase a Christmas gift for her teenage son who would have otherwise gone without, obtained a first and new bike, a wish list item, for a boy who experienced a tragic loss,  and helped provide a month’s worth of transportation for work and school to an aunt who inherited the full responsibility of her young niece after the matriarch of the family unexpectedly passed away. The MomMark’s goal for the remainder of 2022 is to provide holiday gifts for some of the qualifying candidates in the small, rural upstate New York childhood hometown of Coach Tara’s.

With an event like this, there are many opportunities to find it purposeful. Even if in the end, it was attending, just for fun!
